Kendal boasts an impressive 472 allotment plots over 17 sites throughout Kendal.
Kendal Town Council manage all allotment plots via Allotment Officer, Janine Holt and the Townscape Manager, Pierre Labat. Both regularly visit sites to maintain them and support tenants. Kendal Town Councillors manage the Allotment Committee, you can read Chairman Cllr Veever’s Annual Newsletter 2017
Please direct all allotment enquiries to Janine Holt on 01539 793495 or via firstname.lastname@example.org
Please find information relating to the ULLUCO VIRUS which we have been asked to bring to the attention of allotment holders.
Kendal’s allotments feature in the ‘Kendal in Bloom’ competition giving site owners the opportunity to enter as individuals and or sites.
Many groups and individuals enjoy Kendal’s allotments, including Age UK who provide allotment sessions every Thursday morning, click this link for details.
The allotment rent is decided by Kendal Town Councillors each year in November. Allotment rent received from tenants is used towards the cost of administration, the services of the handyperson, water bills, repairs and renewing of fencing and boundary walls, pest control and tree cutting. The current rent has been calculated at 0.35 p per m2.
Each allotment holder signs a Tenancy Agreement, follow this link to read a sample agreement. The agreement states that cockerels are not permitted on any of the allotment sites. Tenants found with cockerels on their plots will be asked to remove them immediately as this is a breach of the terms and conditions of the Tenancy Agreement.
FYI – Manure Supplies
A supplier at Oxenholme Farm leaves out bags of free horse manure outside the premises for collection. Look out for the Horse Stables sign.
