Kendal Town Council
Each year, the Town Council makes a significant number of grants to clubs, associations and charities which operate within the boundary of the town.
In 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 grants of £41,795 and £44,800 were made respectively, to organisations within the town whose activities are of benefit to Kendal residents. These include not only the Brewery Arts Centre, the Museum and the Citizens’ Advice Bureau but also a myriad of smaller organisations ranging from voluntary bodies supporting those in need, Residents Associations, youth groups and clubs (e.g. cricket, football etc.) The annual Torchlight Procession (photo), Mintfest and Fireworks Display (photo) also receive financial support as do many other local projects that give benefit and enjoyment to local residents and visitors to the town all year round.
No grants are made to political organisations, religious bodies, local schools, or parent/teacher organisations.
Councillors of Kendal Town Council are also trustees of two Charities administered by the Council: The Dowker Bindloss and The Schools of Science & Art.
