News and notices
Sun16th Oct 2011 -The Rotary Club of Kendal planted 10,000 yellow and purple crocus bulbs on Windermere road at the entrance to the town.  This follows on from a similar number planted on Milnthorpe road outside Stonecross Manor Hotel last year and were much admired.  Working in partnership with the Town Council, and Kendal in Bloom it is hoped that eventually all the main entrances to the town will have similar displays.  The crocus should appear in early spring next year.

crocus bulbs planted by rotary clubFor many years Rotary have been focusing on eradicating polio with  there 'Our Thanks for Life' project.  Polio is now endemic in only 4 countries and will continue to strive for total elimination. When a child is immunised, their finger is dipped in purple dye. The purple crocus is a reminder of that project as well as enhancing the roadside each spring time.

The Summer School Challenge theme for this year was Blooming Wild Life Challenge. Six local primary schools entered the challenge and invited the Mayor
