Planning

South Lakeland District Council is the Local Planning Authority for the town of Kendal.  However, they are obliged to consult Kendal Town Council on every planning application they receive affects Kendal.  The Town Council is thus asked to comment on some 200 planning applications a year, and these are dealt with at formal meetings of its planning committee which takes place twice a month.  At these meetings, recommendations are made either to approve or to refuse each application and it is pleasing to note that the District Council rarely disagree with the Town Council's recommendations.
