| Kirkland Scheme |
Kirkland, KendalAs a southern entrance to Kendal, Kirkland is often dominated by traffic and the Kirkland Pedestrian Audit, through working with local people, identified ways to make the area safer for pedestrians and encourage more browsers and buyers. Funding was then secured to take forward some of the recommendations and work started on 18th January for 8 weeks. By improving the ‘streetscape’ through widening pavements, new surfacing and improving lighting the scheme will encourage visitors and residents to “discover rather than bypass” Kirkland.
