The Mayor of Kendal, Cllr Stephen Coleman was delighted with the Parade and the Civic celebration at Kendal Parish Church. The Kendal Sea Cadet Band led the Parade from the Town Hall to the Church. The service incorporated many young prayer readers from a variety of the local youth groups and the Head Boy & Head Girl of Kirkbie Kendal School. The Lakes Gospel Choir and St Thomas’ Drama group performed a short drama entitled ‘Little Boxes’ which portrayed a powerful message about ‘Helping others’.
The Mayor was joined by his family, the High Sheriff of Cumbria, Rev’d Richard Lee, and many visiting Mayor’s from around Cumbria. Many other representatives from various local groups as well as Kendal Town Councillors and ex-Mayor’s of Kendal.
The main local youth groups included the Sea, Army and Air cadets, Girlguiding, Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade and Buzz Club and Tokari School of Dance. The weather held fair for the whole event which was a blessing after the deluge on the Saturday.
