Kendal Town Council

Planning

The Planning Committee’s remit is to consider planning matters referred to Kendal Town Council by the Local Planning Authorities (usually South Lakeland District Council (SLDC); occasionally Cumbria County Council) and sometimes by statutory undertakers (e.g. for development involving pipelines, power lines or communications infrastructure).

Kendal Town Council is a statutory consultee in planning matters, which means the Council’s views have to be sought and taken into account by the Local Planning Authority when they make their decisions. The Town Council has to meet tight deadlines for replying; and for this reason, the Committee normally meets twice a month and has delegated authority to make decisions on behalf of the Council.

Agendas and Minutes for meetings can be found here.

Kendal Climate Change Citizens’ JuryHelp plan a response to climate change

In April 2019, Kendal Town Council declared a climate emergency. We now want to take the next step and find out what the public thinks.

A Citizens’ Jury will help do this by planning a response to climate emergency. Citizens Juries have been run all over the world to help figure out what to do about really big difficult problems.

In order to launch a Kendal Climate Change Citizens’ Jury we need to raise £6,000, so please help by clicking the button below and donating.
