Kendal Town Council

Planning

The Planning Committee’s remit is to consider planning matters referred to Kendal Town Council by the Local Planning Authorities (usually South Lakeland District Council (SLDC); occasionally Cumbria County Council) and sometimes by statutory undertakers (e.g. for development involving pipelines, power lines or communications infrastructure).

Kendal Town Council is a statutory consultee in planning matters, which means the Council’s views have to be sought and taken into account by the Local Planning Authority when they make their decisions. The Town Council has to meet tight deadlines for replying; and for this reason, the Committee normally meets twice a month and has delegated authority to make decisions on behalf of the Council.
