Wishes for the Year Ahead from the Mayor of Kendal

The Mayor of Kendal, Councillor Richard Sutton would like to share a heartfelt message of gratitude and hope with residents across the town for 2026.

This year, the Mayor will continue the volunteering initiative. He plans to find out more about the amazing work being done in the community and to spotlight opportunities to get involved.  Kendal Town Council will also continue it’s ‘450 celebrations’. 2025 – 2026 marks 450 years since the Elizabethan Charter was granted to the town. The charter allowed Kendal to become self-governing and marks a significant point in our town’s history.

Looking ahead, the Mayor would like to emphasis optimism for the year to come:

“As we welcome 2026, I encourage everyone to embrace the opportunities ahead. Continue to support one another and take pride in our wonderful town. May this New Year bring health and happiness to all. I want to thank every resident, volunteer, and business for their contributions to our town.”
