Kendal Town Council is served by 28 Councillors. Each Councillor serves a specific ward via a committee structure.

Currently, Cumbria County Council and South Lakeland District Council deliver other Council related services. After 1 April 2023, these two authorities will be replaced by the ‘unitary’ Westmorland & Furness Council.
